Ethics Online: Meta Ethics

img013img038Some paintings for the other film for Ethics Online, on Meta Ethics this time, which is not so much about what is moral but what is morality, and how it is discussed or might be defined.

layout tiny draft I got to draw a great collection of philosophers for this one; the three in the first painting above have handy name-umbrellas, which also serve to ward off downpours of criticism. I really liked working on this – I tried to do it in a slightly different style, with quicker, looser watercolour and bigger brushes (and a slightly larger scale… slowly I am learning).

The little black & white try-out portraits were done straight paint to paper, which felt really liberating (even if some of them are a little scary).

<– Here are two little trial sketches, in pen for layout, and paint for basic colouring tests. Mostly I just like their ridiculous expressions : >img062

Again, many thanks to Nicky Hansell and Joe Jenkins – and for more information about the films and their wondrous introduction to this mind-bending branch of ethics and philosophy, click here.
